Shaw Vineyard Estate 2016 Riesling, $30
Clare and Eden Valleys get all the recognition when it comes to Riesling, but the Canberra District also produces outstanding examples, and up there with the best of them is Shaw Vineyard Estate. Its 2015 Riesling grabbed a swag of trophies and sold out in no time, so everyone has eagerly been awaiting its follow-up. This new release is steely and acidic with refreshing citrus and just a touch of sweetness. It drinks beautifully now, the perfect summer drop, but it should also age gracefully over the next decade or more.
