Primo Estate 2018 Zamberlan Cabernet Sauvignon Sangiovese, $40
Primo Estate wines are a great blend of modern Australian winemaking and Italian tradition. Zamberlan is created using what is known as the ‘ripasso’ technique – in other words, the Cabernet Sauvignon is crushed directly onto some of the dried grape skins from Primo’s flagship Joseph Moda wine (because in Italy, nothing would have been wasted). A small amount of Sangiovese is blended in, adding cherry-like notes to the intense dark chocolate/spice notes of the Cabernet. This is another one of those wines where each component elevates the other to great heights. A real treat.
