Wine Pick: Joseph Nebbiolo 2017

Hardys HRB Heritage Reserve Bin 2018 Riesling, $35

Hardys’ history of blending wines goes way back. Thomas Hardy first blended grapes from multiple regions in 1865, in the belief that it would complement and enhance the qualities of each region. Each blend was given a unique code, starting with A001. This one is D679 and it’s a combination of fruit from Tasmania and Clare Valley; the latter in particular had an excellent 2018 vintage. With great floral intensity and citrus flavours, this lovely Riesling has aromas of zesty lemon and lime, subtle minerality and a long finish. It’s crisp and fresh, and we enjoyed it with crumbed fish, a perfect match.
