Chandon 2016 Yarra Valley Cuvée, $42

The 2016 vintage coincides with the 30th anniversary of Chandon in Australia, a brand that has contributed enormously to raising the bar for the production of sparkling wine in Australia. Chandon’s winemaking director, Dan Buckle, said it seemed fitting then that the 2016 Cuvée be a blend of grapes sourced entirely from the winery’s home vineyard, Green Point, in the Yarra Valley. A traditional blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, it’s a fresh, bright, elegant bubbly with subtle biscuit notes, a little creaminess and a lovely long finish. Here’s cheers to many more years of fine Australian bubbles.
