Bressia Monteagrelo 2014 Malbec, $60.50
Walter Bressia has decades of experience in the wine business in Argentina, having worked for brands such as Vistalba and Viniterra. He went out on his own in 2003 and is now producing some of the country’s finest wines. Malbec is a speciality of Argentina’s Mendoza region and this compelling wine is a good example of why that is so. It’s at once complex, concentrated and intense, yet has delicate tannins and a long, harmonious finish. With a deep reddish/purple colour, vanilla and sweet spice aromas, and cherry and dark chocolate flavours, it is elegant, seductive and very more-ish. Try it with a juicy T-Bone steak or with the Barbecued short ribs with tomato salsa recipe that we ran with our review of The Food of Argentina. The wine can be ordered in Australia through Artisan Malbec.
