Bremerton 2014 Old Adam Shiraz, $56

Whatever is in the soil at Langhorne Creek packs some flavour into this ripper of a wine. A blend of parcels from Bremerton’s most outstanding vineyards and barrels, it is rich with generously flavoured fruit. The dynamic duo of winemaker Rebecca Willson and her sister, marketing manager Lucy Willson, run a top show at Bremerton and nowhere is that more obvious than in this hugely seductive wine. It certainly cast a spell on me with its sweet plum, cinnamon and blackberry notes, gentle tannins and sweetly spicy nose. The wine was in barrel for 22 months and further matured in bottle for a year before release, the oak so seamlessly integrated that it fits like a velvet glove.
