I love street food, colourful markets and balmy evenings. So when a friend tipped me off about Brisbane’s new Eat Street Markets, we wasted no time in checking them out. The stalls are set up in shipping containers on Hamilton Wharf, with designer lights strung around them, warehouse pallets for seating and brightly coloured soft furnishings. Very hip. The products for sale range from ho-hum to quality crafts, but it was the diversity of food that caught my eye, with Asian, European and Mexican flavours well represented. We’d already eaten (yes, I know, bad mistake) so we only had room for a Thai dessert of mango and sticky rice. But we loved the vibe and next time will go with empty tummies. The market is on Fridays and Saturdays from 4pm to 10pm.www.eatstreetmarkets.com
