Narooma Oyster Festival

NaroomaOysterFestivalChefs from three leading NSW south coast restaurants will headline next weekend’s Narooma Oyster Festival. Huw Jones of Zanzibar Merimbula, Josh Tyler of Tyler’s Pantry Mogo and Dave Campbell of Wharf Rd Nowra will demonstrate some of their signature dishes at the festival’s Naturally Gourmet Fair on Saturday, April 5.

All three are one-hat winners in The Sydney Morning Herald 2014 Good Food Guide Awards. They are all great advocates of using local produce, Tyler going so far as foraging along the coastline for native edible flora to include in his cooking.

I had the privilege of attending last year’s festival, and found it to be a wonderful showcase for the region’s produce and culinary and artistic talents. Oyster lovers, needless to say, will be in seventh heaven.

The festival has different programs each day, including a new feature this year, the oyster bar precinct; exclusive master classes in the Ultimate Oyster Experience; an oyster trail and the Saturday night festival dinner.
