Last month I had the honour of being invited to Host, a hospitality exhibition held alongside World Expo in Milan, Italy. The scale of the event took my breath away, and if you’ve been following my posts, you’ll already have some idea about how awesome this exhibition is, with entire pavilions devoted to pizza, pastry, coffee, chocolate and gelato, and more.

Now let me show you some of the cakes. The level of creativity and skill that went into making these works of art is just incredible. The designs ranged from intricately worked flowers to iconic buildings, dinosaurs, Oriental designs and portraits of famous entertainers.

Teams from 30 countries competed for the World Trophy of Pastry Icecream Chocolate and the Cake Designer World Championship. Hosted by the Italian Federation of Pastry Icecream and Chocolate, the competition was intense, with the cakes judged both on taste and artistic creativity.

Take a look at some of the cakes that were on display, and tell me, which is your favourite?
