Brisbane foodies who are after a casual Father’s Day dining experience with an exciting twist should put Roma Street’s Nest Restaurant & Bar at the top of their list. Perched amongst Brisbane’s concrete jungle, this colourful sanctuary offers a tantalising Asian fusion menu with a contemporary take on Chinese, Malay, Indonesian and Vietnamese dishes. It’s the perfect venue to spoil Dad (and the whole family) for Father’s Day, not least because Dad gets a free beer with any meal purchased.

Nest prides itself on growing its own herbs that are added to each meal – everything from the coriander in the dumplings to the mint in every cocktail is picked daily from its own rooftop herb garden.

If dessert is your thing, Nest offers a variety of classic favourites with an inventive twist. For chocolate lovers, the chocolate fondant with peanut butter ice cream is an indulgent treat. The open kitchen makes it feel like an authentic street market dining experience, and the venue is complemented by a stylish array of Asian-inspired décor with modern touches.

The industrial-style windows offer views of Roma Street below, contrasted by the magical lanterns hanging in the precinct’s famous 100-year-old fig tree. The red lanterns almost appear to be floating. For those who are after an intimate drink, Nest also seconds as a relaxed, urban-inspired lounge bar offering a variety of indulgent cocktails and classic favourites in glassware that is artwork in itself.

If you’re organising something special for Father’s Day, Nest is a great choice. It’s ideal for both large groups and for more intimate affairs. Bookings are recommended.
